Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka Márquez has spoken about his mixed emotions as the series returns for a second run.
A professional dancer who partners with Morning livePunam Krishan from this year’s pageant took to Instagram to share a crying selfie alongside a message sharing a more “vulnerable” side with her followers in an update.
“Sometimes I feel like we all share joy here or things that can make others go, Wow, look at him/her…how amazing,” his statement began. “Maybe we’re afraid to show another side of us, more vulnerable, but that’s still us.”

“So… here I am, having those moments that we sometimes hide or keep to ourselves, especially if we’re men.”
He reveals his feelings on his return Strictly season, Gorka shared how he experiences happy and sad emotions, especially when he is separated from his family.
Gorka is engaged to her exHollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson, whom he met in 2017 on a series of the hit BBC dance show.
The couple got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2021 and are parents to daughter Mia, 4, and son Thiago, 1.

“I feel like today should be one of those days where we can all think it’s all happiness, joy, excitement, for everything that’s about to start with Strictly… And YES, it is,” he explained.
“But at the same time, I get a feeling of sadness, guilt, because I’m leaving for so long. A feeling that I’ve let them down by not being there, a feeling of their failure . . .”
To end on a more positive note, Gorka recognized his family’s pride in him and his Strictly role.
“At the same time, I know that I’m doing it for them and I know how much joy it brings them and how excited and proud they are when they watch me,” he added. “And yes, that makes it all worth it. But sometimes I still feel like . . .”

The professional dancer thanked fans for their support and allowed him to voice his feelings.
Gemma was one of many to leave a message of support in the comments section of the post. “We love you and can’t wait to see you do your thing! Mia already gave me ‘Saturday night directions,'” she wrote.
“Hold that record for most tens with Dr. Punam! We’ll be right at the finish line!”
Gorka’s dance partner Punam also shared words of encouragement, saying: “I totally understand how you feel. It’s hard because it’s hard to leave your family.
“I always hate leaving home too, so I totally get that, but I promise my family and I will look after you as one of our own. The lovely people of Glasgow are beyond thrilled to have you here and we will do everything we can in our power to make you feel at home.
“Oh, I promise I’ll do my best to make this sacrifice worth it by dancing.”
